Harriett Ann Brown said that her whole life. She and her husband William worked two and three jobs each to build a home, a marriage, and a family in Norfolk, Virginia. After William died, their son spent eight years systematically taking everything they had built her finances, her freedom, her home, and ultimately her peace. The law saw it happening and could not stop it. The institutions meant to protect her looked away. Harriett died in January 2024. We are building the legislation, the accountability, and the community that should have protected her because she was right. Do the right thing. These bills are the right thing.
